Phew!

I'm very worn out right now... I spent the entire day (8:45AM-7:45PM) working on my submission to the International Music Prize Competition. And I didn't do any composing! It took a long time to format the work I submitted because it was a very complex piece. I also had to write some program notes and biographical information, which is always kind of awkward. In the music world (maybe just the professional world...), biographies are basically "dick-off" contests, where musicians list their accomplishments, where they've performed, whose dong they've touched, etc. It sounds like a résumé, but it is way more pretentious, and I've never really had to write a serious one before, so it was kind of uncomfortable.

Other than that, I played a little FFX and invented THE BEST meal ever... the "RCBM". Below is a picture of the RCBM. I've eaten one for every meal today, and I'll probably eat one for dinner. They're just so damn tasty!

Tomorrow I'm meeting with Morita-sensei (awesome guy who's the head of the Econ dept.) and the Doshisha Chancellor, which sounds like a pretty big deal. I'm not sure who the chancellor is, but I'm just going to put my suit on and show up. Morita-sensei promised to take me out for drinks after, which should be sweet.

I'll likely work on a second submission to the contest. Unfortunately, I cannot submit nearly any work from my music thesis, since I've 'received aid' and 'submitted the works for advice'. Luckily, one single piece I did for that project was completely unassisted, and it was that one I submitted. There are multiple tiers (5 levels) in this competition, and I'd like to do well in the highest and lowest, so I've composed one extremely difficult and one supremely facile work for submission.

RCBM, as promised.

  1. Keep in mind that your grandfather died at age 47 from heart failure. This meal will send you down the same road so STOP IT Walker before I have a heart attack looking at it! :-(
