Relaxing today.

Last night we had a great welcoming party for all the students in my compound, and I spent most of the day recovering, but I did make a little bike ride across the river today. I saw a huge group of brown hawks, all circling around the river and making these huge dives to grab fish... it was awesome. On Friday night, I sat in on some tracks (drums, guitar) at Blue Note, which is apparently the oldest jazz club in Kyoto. I met some cool cats, including one awesome piano player. We're "rocking" it below, but I unfortunately had my eyes almost closed when the picture was taken. Here are also some shots of the club.

Below are some unrelated photos. The first is of my new memory card reader, which is just so Japanese. It's also very convenient and small. The next is of a drink I thought had a particularly interesting name, "Pungency". It's a sort of milk tea. The little blurb on the bottle was also interesting. Despite what the label might have you believe, this "astringent' beverage is actually really good.

  1. I love the descriptive word "EXQUISITE" on the bottle. Love this kind of post Walk! Xoxox :-)
